JAMB to Stop Setting Uniform Cut-Off Marks for Varsities, Others
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB to stop
uniform cut-off points for admitting candidates that took the
Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examination. ‘Let institutions admit
what they want according to their needs. This means that if a
university wants 250 as minimum cut off marks, why not let it be and if
another want less, then so be it.’

The
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has hinted that it may cancel
the use of uniform cut-off points for admitting candidates that took the
Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Investigation ongoing about sudden death of BSU 500 level medical student...Victor Egbe
There is confusion over the sudden death of one Rev Victor Egbe who until his demise, was a 500 level medical student at Benue State University, Makurdi and also the General Overseer/Founder of Campus Witness Church. The sad event occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 12 October 2016 when the young pastor was called to pray for a student who is ill at the university clinic. It was reported that immediately after the prayer, Rev Egbe slumped and died. However, the family of the deceased has disagreed with the report alleging foul play in the events leading up to the sudden death of their son.

EDUCATION: Buhari Sacks JAMB Boss, 16 Education Agencies CEOs
The Federal Government has appointed 17 news Chief Executive Officers to oversee various parastatals and agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education. Some of the parastatals under the ministry affected include the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board, National Board of Technical Education, National Universities Commission and National Library of Nigeria. One of those newly appointed is Prof Isaq Oloyede, who is to replace Prof Dibu Ojerinde of JAMB. Below are the other affected parastatals/agencies and the newly appointed Chief Executives;

EDUCATION: COE, Katsina-Ala shutdown over fees increment


Academic activities at College of Education, Kastina-Ala, Benue State were shutdown today as students protested against a hike in their school fees.

Last month, the Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Institutions Bill 2016 was read the second time. It is now sailing to its final destination, only a nautical mile away. But the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has stirred the waters in the opposite direction thereby causing some form of disquiet on board.
